FLYBE AIRLINE - AUGUST 2017
Airline Flybe published my business story in the August issue of their in-flight magazine, FlightTime.
FAST COMPANY - APRIL 2017
Fast Company South Africa ran my feature on the rise of remote working around the world.
SA Express' Indwe Magazine ran this feature on the Meerkat/SKA project, a major array of dish antennas designed to probe the depths of space. The SKA project is of worldwide significance, and I travelled to Namaqua Engineering in Vredendal to meet the South African team helping to bring these monocles into our great unknown to life.
During the Ebola crisis in 2015, we teamed up with WeChat to create a mobile app that would dispense information on the disease in two languages: English and French. This involved creating wireframes, flowcharts and purpose-building the app from the ground up. We piloted a 24/7 help chat run by the team and sourced information from experts in the field. I ran the project from start to finish and was actively involved in the creation of a TVC that ran across South Africa’s premier satellite network, DSTV. At its height, the app was used by more than 40, 000 users.
SKYWAYS, JAN 2017
Airlink's in-flight magazine Skyways ran my story about the Biltong Board in their January 2017 issue. The piece looks at BB founder Maxime Eon's mission to make biltong more than an everyday, throwaway snack.
Zone Fitness. One of a series of designs commissioned to advertise the Zone Fitness gym brand. These designs appeared in national newspapers in 2015.
These work-in-progress images demonstrated a pitch for a Fintech client. The designer and I devised the concept of a spaceman as an allegory for hope (dreaming big and reaching for the stars) in the face of South Africa's crippling debt crisis. The slogan is simple but effective "Change your world."
I was one of the project leads on Lumico Academy, an initiative designed to reach outsiders digital marketing skills. I would prepare two hours of marketing material and then present to an assembled - paying - audience.
WeChat Dream Holiday - 2014. The WeChat Dream Holiday campaign was a nationwide competition that ran for several months across 12 competing South African universities. To promote the campaign, I worked with campus writers ('stringers') from across the 12 universities, co-ordinating written content and video activations.
Project Trapped - 2014. In the winter of 2014, Efferflu C were looking for a campaign that would promote their immune boosters. The idea? A social experiment with Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues. To emulate what it felt like to be cooped up at home with flu, the comedy duo locked themselves away in a hotel room for a week. The catch? They had to act out stunts suggested to them over social media by the public. I was involved in the marketing of the campaign over social media and online. The person who suggested the zaniest idea walked away with a cash prize and bragging rights to boot. Picture
